Wow, this really puts things in perspective

My mum showed me a neat way of adding picture to WordPress, so I’ve added nearly every picture I could find to My Story. Today has been supremely therapeutic and resulted in me smiling like a Cheshire Cat. ComeΒ see why!

  3. All of the photos add a lot. I meant to say after your last post when you filled out your story a little more, I hope you get a chance to see your son again and can become part of his life.

    • Adding the photos shows a massive shift in my mentality. Not long ago, I would have been ashamed to look at them myself, let alone make them public. As for my son, I KNOW our paths will cross in the future πŸ™‚

Best wishes on getting the situation with your son sorted out! Meanwhile you might want to look into someone who can screen dates for you πŸ˜‰ I nominate Ani πŸ˜‰

I keep saying that I am not going to reblog every post from Nick’s site, and as a post in itself, this one appears to say very little. It is, in fact, little more than an update. It is not quite all it seems though, when you consider how difficult it was for Nick to even look at himself in a mirror for so long… let alone use the mirroring eyes of the world. One of the most heartrending moments for me, as his mum, was to hear the despair and hurt in the voice that told me that he was ashamed of who he had become.

That my son can now look back on his own journey and take pride in what he has achieved and where he has come from, that he is happy to share pictures he had hoped, not so very long ago, I hadn’t kept…pictures from when he was physically at his worst and of the emotional rollercoaster of the past few years… is a moment of real joy for me.

I did keep them; hoping against hope that one day he would want them, and see them for what they are… a testament to his resilience and determination, a reminder of a unique journey and proof of the breadth and depth of the human spirit.

I know that many of my readers have already visited this page… but perhaps not since he added more of his story and shared in images a tale of hope and triumph in the face of impossible odds; a story that, even while it looks back at tragedy, now looks forward to a healed future. While the story of Nick’s physical recovery is far from over, healing wears many faces…
