Love Birds by Nick Verron (click on image to see it hi-res on my Flickr page)

So, it’s Valentine’s Day on Sunday. We all know how amazing a thing love is. I’m sure a million people will be reiterating exactly why, so I will not waste your time. All I will say on the subject is:

It’s such an amazing thing when two free and independent souls happen to cross paths; when these two unique individuals inexplicably combine to create something beautiful. If you are lucky enough to currently be experiencing this wondrous phenomenon, treasure it. If you are single, don’t feel sad this Sunday. Instead, look forward to  soon meeting the love of your life! No matter what the causes of you being alone this Valentine’s Day, listen to the following song and hopefully like me, you will smile:

  1. Aww Nick, that is a lovely sentiment! You’re right, there is someone out there for everyone, it’s just that the journey to find them is not always a straight forward one…

  7. This is a lovely post, Nick! Love mostly happens when you expect it least. But the timing is always perfect and looking back you will see. You are a wonderful person, Nick!

    • Yes, whenever I have proactively sought out love, nothing has come of it. I have had some very deep and meaningful relationships, but they have always happened by catching me off guard. I wonder if we will ever be able to control love? Or would that make it something else; is love by definition, beautiful chaos?

      • No, we will never be able to control love. Because love is what made us, love is the energy we origin and who we are. We are love. That’s why love would never control love. Only the mind wants to control. But the mind is what was created from love. The creation cannot control the creator. But the creator (love) can control the mind….. 😉

        • As always Erika, you make a very good point! Although I am sure science will continually endeavour to harness this elemental energy responsible for our creation, I can see no good that could come of it 🙂

          • I don’t worry, because that is a much too hard nut to crack… haha. We simply don’t need to participate. Your mind and heart is yours, my mind and heart is mine. How we handle love is an individual decision… don’t you think? 😀

  14. What beautiful words Nick!! For the last 17 years I have been on my own, raising 2 Punks, entirely on my own. This is the first Valentine’s Day in 17 years I have had a partner to spend it with. Whilst I had a nice day, and I am happy, the truth is I am a little confused about love and happiness and all that stuff. Not sure what my point is, just thought I would share. I guess it’s all part of the journey. Cheers, Jo. X
